The first annual Raffle Run was a huge success! Saturday, August 10, was a beautiful day on and off the water. The most fun was being able to be with friends boating around the lake on a beautiful day, playing games, and being able to bid on numerous fun and valuable raffle baskets. Participation in the event on the day of was optional, though that was certainly the fun part! Anyone who went to the CLA website and bought a raffle ticket did not need to be present to win the cash prizes of $300, $200, or $100.
On top of the cash prizes, raffle baskets with themes like “smores galore”, “ice cream party”, and “fishing frenzy” were filled with fabulous gifts from area businesses. A homemade, lake-themed lap quilt was made by a CLA volunteer and proved to be a popular raffle item.
Donations were received from:
The host homes that boaters visited participated in a new contest. Each was challenged to
outshine their friends, which resulted in décor, treats, music, and more. Fishing themes,
flamingos and loons were among the stops. The winning hosts were Sally and Dan Swanson
with their backyard tiki bar, which included a beautiful dock greeter and some luscious treats!
The day ended with a great party at Jake’s on the Lakes, who served delicious tacos and
donated their patio space. The CLA raised almost $4,000 which will be used toward the
ongoing treatment of invasive weeds on the lakes. Next year, the event will be bigger and better!
